Based in London and Mumbai, Supplycompass is a design-to-delivery sourcing platform that simplifies the production process, providing a transparent, responsible solution that works for factories as well as fashion brands. Specialising in fashion, interiors and accessories, Supplycompass connects SMEs with the best global manufacturers from its network.

Initially grown in India, Supplycompass is part vetted manufacturer network and part production management tool. Vetted factory partners are carefully selected for brands based on their proximity to the source of materials to avoid the necessity of importing fabrics and supplies, in turn supporting local materials, keeping costs down and building local-to-global supply chains, Supplycompass said in a press release.

Specialising in three main sectors namely fashion (menswear, womenswear and technical garments), interiors (furniture and homeware) and accessories (jewellery, bags and belts), Supplycompass uniquely provides a solution for both sides of the production process (companies and manufacturers equally). Supplycompass has found that the blend of well-matched connections with skilled communication leads to the best collaborations, resulting in happy brands and manufacturers. Supplycompass is transparent about their supply chain relationships and acts as an extension of a company’s team by ensuring structure and standardisation of the ongoing management process, from design to delivery.

Supplycompass has well-established, progressive factory partners in India (plus Sri Lanka and Nepal) and mainland Europe (including Portugal, Spain and Italy). Companies are matched with a manufacturer within one day – for free. Pricing is a commission-based structure depending on the order value and manufacturing costs. Current Supplycompass clients are fast-growing, direct-to-consumer premium brands at a ‘tipping point’ within the fashion, interiors and accessories industries.

In addition to being a tech-enabled platform, unlike many competitors Supplycompass also provides an ongoing management service as the human solution to challenges regularly found along the production journey. These range from issues with communication, relationship management and product deadlines for brands, to planning capacity and product deliverables for manufacturers – that ultimately require flexibility and human understanding to resolve, the release added.

Co-founders Gus Bartholomew and Flora Davidson met at university in 2009 and spent two years living and working in India to build the foundations of the company in 2016-17. Their differing, complementary skill sets – project manager with direct factory experience and global innovation/strategy in the fashion industry respectively – allowed them to establish and grow Supplycompass as a new breed of sourcing company: one that is easier to connect with and ultimately offers software with a service rather than as a service.

"We believe brands of all sizes should have the opportunity and access to the best factories and supply chains. We started Supplycompass to give SMEs access to the best global supply chains, without having to worry about resource and budget," Flora Davidson, Supplycompass co-founder, said.

Through the unique combination of the specialist team at Supplycompass and the platform’s intuitive tech – including easy-to-use tech packs and production management tools – brands can seamlessly and efficiently manage the manufacturing of their wares on a continuous basis. Supplycompass has found that their process saves brand's valuable time and money, such as reducing the time spent managing production by 40 per cent, reducing the time from design to delivery by 50 per cent and saving up to 45 per cent on production costs. Supplycompass recently got a perfect sample made in 10 days from ideation to completion, proving their combined expertise with tech packs, network and team saved the brand valuable time in the design development process.

Following its launch at the start of 2018, Supplycompass has worked with brands and manufacturers to embed responsible and sustainable practices in their businesses, deliver greater value and create opportunities for growth. Its mission is to bring better structure and visibility to production by creating the world’s most trusted and transparent supply chains, offering the most responsible and innovative solutions, and providing the most seamless experience for brands and manufacturers. To date, over 1 million products have been responsibly made as a result of Supplycompass. (RR)
