Turkey apparel exports up 1.07% in Jan-June 2019

Apparel exports from Turkey increased by 1.07 per cent in the first six months of 2019, according to the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute. From January to June 2019, Turkey exported apparel worth $8.851 billion, compared to exports of $8.756 billion clocked during the first six months of 2018, the data showed.
Category-wise, exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS chapter 61) earned $4.370 billion during the six-month period, registering a decrease of 1.6 per cent over exports of $4.440 billion during the corresponding period of the previous year.
Exports of non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS chapter 62) were valued at $3.307 billion, up 2.7 per cent from $3.220 billion exports made in the same period of 2018.
Meanwhile, exports of carpets, mats and tapestries (HS chapter 57) were up 7.2 per cent to $1.174 billion during the period under review. (PC)
