Turkey apparel exports up 1.15% in Jan-July 2019

Apparel exports from Turkey increased by 1.15 per cent in the first seven months of 2019, according to the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute. From January to July 2019, Turkey exported apparel worth $9.146 billion, compared to exports of $9.04 billion clocked during the first seven months of 2018, the data showed.
Category-wise, exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS chapter 61) earned $5.216 billion during the seven-month period, same as the amount earned during the corresponding period of the previous year.
Exports of non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS chapter 62) were valued at $3.930 billion, up 3.7 per cent from $3.791 billion exports made in the same period of 2018.
Meanwhile, exports of carpets, mats and tapestries (HS chapter 57) were up 9.1 per cent to $1.397 billion during the period under review. (PC)
