Turkey apparel exports up 1.47% in Jan-March 2019

Apparel exports from Turkey increased by 1.47 per cent in the first three months of 2019, according to the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute. From January to March 2019, Turkey exported apparel worth $3.995 billion, compared to exports of $3.936 billion clocked during the first three months of 2018, the data showed.
Category-wise, exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS chapter 61) earned $2.257 billion during the three-month period, registering a decrease of 0.6 per cent over exports of $2.272 billion during the corresponding period of the previous year.
Exports of non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS chapter 62) were valued at $1.738 billion, up 4.5 per cent from $1.664 billion exports made in the same period of 2018.
Meanwhile, exports of carpets, mats and tapestries (HS chapter 57) were up 4.1 per cent to $576.105 million during the period under review. (PC)
