Exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS Chapter 61) fell by 3.4 per cent, reaching $7,555.667 million, down from $7,818.852 million in January–September 2023. Non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS Chapter 62) experienced a 9.3 per cent decline, dropping to $5,692.723 million from $6,278.818 million during the same period last year, according to the trade report on the top twenty chapters.
In September 2024, Turkiye’s garment exports dropped by 4.78 per cent to $1,512.876 million. Exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories declined by 2.9 per cent to $919.348 million, compared to $946.398 million in September 2023. Non-knitted apparel and accessories also saw a 7.6 per cent reduction, decreasing from $642.535 million in September 2023 to $593.528 million in September 2024.
Among the top 20 chapters of products imported by the country, the inbound shipment of non-knitted and crocheted goods and articles (HS Chapter 62) rose by 16.9 per cent to $1,429.355 million in the first nine months of the current year, compared to $1,222.549 million in January-September 2023. In September 2024, imports surged by 13 per cent to $191.929 million, up from $169.813 million in the same period last year.
In 2023, Turkiye’s apparel exports decreased by 5.86 per cent to $18.321 billion, down from $19.463 billion in 2022, following $18.294 billion in 2021.
