Two Sri Lankan companies explore expansion in Pakistan

Sri Lanka’s MW Ventures International and Hirdaramani Group want to expand business to Pakistan, according to an official of the latter’s commerce ministry. The first is a services company with expertise in marketing, financial management and event management whereas the second manufactures apparel with factories in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh Vietnam and Ethiopia.

Pakistan’s commercial secretary in Sri Lanka met top officials of both the companies recently to discussed business opportunities in Pakistan, a Pakistani newspaper reported quoting the unnamed official.

Pakistani exports to Sri Lanka showed a rising trend during fiscal 2017/18.
According to the State Bank of Pakistan, exports to Sri Lanka increased by 35.48 per cent during 2017-18. (DS)
