Vessi unveils waterproof knit shoe on Kickstarter

Vessi Footwear, Vancouver based technology start-up, has announced the next innovation in footwear on Kickstarter by launching Vessi, the world’s first fully waterproof knit shoe. Unlike its predecessors, Vessi’s patented flash-knit technology is waterproof, breathable, moisture-wicking, stretchy and is an alternative to heavy and outdated waterproof shoes.
Vessi’s design was inspired by today’s modern fashion and style. People today need a shoe that can keep up with busy lifestyles without compromising functionality or style.
“We’ve spent the past two years perfecting this new waterproof knit material,” said Andy W, founder of Vessi Footwear. “With our proprietary knit blend and nano-filtering membrane, we’ve managed to create a material that keeps the water out yet provides breathability and flexibility like a regular shoe.”
Based on innovative engineering and design concepts, Vessi is waterproof, lightweight, breathable, moisture-wicking and has a four-way adaptive stretch. The patented Flash-Knit technology is composed of three functional layers with breakthrough features.
The shell layer is a form fitting elastic knit composed of a hybrid blend of polyester and nylon. Using an in-house circle knitting process, each shell is designed to stretch, conform and provide adaptive support for the best possible fit.
The core layer is a waterproof and moisture wicking membrane. The nano-structure of the membrane is impervious to water yet allows moisture to escape, keeping feet dry thus reducing sweat and the buildup of odour throughout the day.
The Inner layer is a comfort lining designed to mimic the feeling of wearing socks. It is soft to the touch and form fitting allowing for maximum comfort and support for all kinds of activities.
In addition to Vessi’s knit features are its ultra lightweight Vzero midsole. The composition of the Vzero’s is designed to maximise energy return while providing dynamic flex and cushion for every step. The outsole is enhanced with rubber treads for traction in all weather conditions. (SV)
