Walmart plans to acquire plus-sized online apparel retailer ELOQUII. As more than half of women aged 18-65 in the United States wear size 14 plus, the specific market segment has been historically underserved and neglected, according to Walmart. The collection is sold exclusively at ELOQUII.com and the company’s five experiential retail stores.

As a digitally native vertical brand (DNVB), ELOQUII has a direct connection with its customers that helps inform how products get developed, how they are marketed and how the brand comes to life, according to a Walmart press release.

ELOQUII CEO Mariah Chase and her team will now join a portfolio that includes ModCloth, Bonobos and Allswell.

DNVBs are an important part of our strategy because they offer unique and differentiated products while building strong relationships with customers, feels Walmart. (DS)
