YKK to discuss zipper innovation at Outdoor Retailer 2019

With expertise in zipper innovation, YKK aims to discuss various aspects and advancements of its latest sustainable and technical products at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market beginning June 18 in the United States. At the three-day event, YKK will also highlight their differing approaches to solving their customers’ challenges through innovation.

One of the innovations YKK will feature at the show is click-Trak, which is a newly launched zipper with open parts components that self-align and engage, allowing the user to close the zipper with one hand. YKK developed this zipper with the aim of enabling the elderly, people with disabilities, and other who have difficulty using zippers, to better enjoy fashion. YKK also aims to expand the application to the sportswear and childrenswear markets, which can take advantage of its easy-to-use features.

Further, YKK will host a tech talk by John Holliday, senior product development manager, and Terry McCullough, sales engineering manager.

YKK’s experts will discuss the two-way QuickFree zipper, which will be available in August 2019. QuickFree is a new YKK product that has both smart insertion and quick release function in one zipper. This zipper can be easily and instantly opened by pulling the chain sideways, and you can release the QuickFree zipper not only from the top but also from the bottom. The release function has been shown to reduce the risk of suffocation when clothing gets caught around the neck. (It does not necessarily guarantee accident or injury prevention.)
