Hong Kong’s Crystal International Group Limited has ramped up long-term decarbonisation actions, following the Net Zero 2050 Vision announced in March 2022. To demonstrate the net zero motivation, Crystal International has newly released a promotional video tied to the Group’s net zero commitment presented by Andrew Lo, CEO of Crystal International.

“We have committed to net zero emission by 2050, in line with the climate science goal to keep global warming below 1.5°C. It is important for the leaders in the garment industry to commit and lead the entire industry towards net zero emission goal. We also set our interim target of reducing 35 per cent aggregate greenhouse gas emission by 2030,” said Lo in the promotional video.

Crystal International’s net zero commitment has been acknowledged by Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

To achieve this long-term ambition, the pioneering Crystal International is formulating a net zero strategy and roadmap, including the enhancement of productivity and energy efficiency, expanding the use of on-site renewable energy, and exploring opportunities for both off-site renewable resources and advanced green technologies. Crystal is engaging a consultant to develop a long-term decarbonisation roadmap for defining targets of each factory and action towards the 2030 and 2050 goals, the company said in a statement.

“We have an opportunity to save our world by changing the way we work and collaborate. I believe it can be done but we need everyone from retailers, brands, garment manufacturers, fabric mills, and the rest of the supply chain to work together to make it happen,” Lo added.

As a first milestone to set off the remarkable net zero journey, Crystal International’s Hong Kong headquarters is certified as carbon neutral by ClimatePartner. The headquarters has infused with diverse and meticulous low carbon design and practices, as well as energy saving measures in accordance with international standards.

Crystal International will continue to demonstrate sustainability leadership while influencing other stakeholders and industry peers to move forward to a net zero fashion future together.
