APLF & SIC confirm France as focus country for MM&T & FA

APLF and SIC, the organizers of Materials, Manufacturing & Technology (MM&T), announce that France has been confirmed to be the Focus Country at MM&T & FA, which will take place from 30th March to 1st April 2015 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The French Leather Industry and all its related associations have a long history of partnership with APLF, and the French Pavilion has always been a key attraction at MM&T every year since the 1st year in 1984. The last time France was the Focus Country was in 1998, where the “Street of Paris” was built on the concourse of Hall 1 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The French leather industry operates under the aegis of the CONSEIL NATIONAL DU CUIR (French Leather Council), which is made up of 19 professional federations from sectors such as livestock raising, the distribution and retail of finished products, processing (tanneries) and the manufacturing of finished products (shoes, leather goods, glove and boot makers, industrial shoe repairers).

This project will be led by the CONSEIL NATIONAL DU CUIR and SIC SA which is an offshoot of the CONSEIL NATIONAL DU CUIR. APLF Ltd, the organisers of the MM&T and FASHION ACCESS fairs in Hong Kong, is a joint venture between SIC Group and UBM Asia.

A committee has been formed to manage this project. It is made up of representatives of professional organisations from the leather and raw hides industry, the tannery sector, the footwear, leather goods and glove-making industries and retailers, and importers of finished products.

The organisers of previous “Focus Country” have always been satisfied and reported that it generated good “Return-On-Investment. Brazil was the Focus Country at MM&T 2014, and the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry - CICB commented that it helped them raise awareness of Brazilian Leather in the industry and among international buyers. After MM&T 2014, APLF conducted a survey to measure the effectiveness of the Brazil Focus Country project, and the results were very positive.

Some highlights of the survey results are:

-71% of respondents recognise Brazil as one of the world’s top leather producers and exporters after MM&T 2014;

-72.9% of respondents answered that they are now more aware of Brazilian Leather after MM&T 2014;

-72.4% of respondents would like to receive more information on Brazilian Leather;

The 2015 edition of MM&T will take place from 30th March to 1st April at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
