Six more companies are likely to join the list of 11, who have decided to go on strike at the call of the Textile, Knitting and Clothing Industry Workers' Union of Turkey (TEKSIF). The protest will start from September 10.

This was determined after TEKSIF failed to reach an agreement with Turkish Textile Employers' Association (TÜTSIS) on the wage increase issue at the revived negotiations of the 21st Term Collective Bargain. These talks had been going on since April.

Companies joining this strike include ready-to-wear and textile manufacturers like Isbir Sentetik, Orta Anadolu Mensucat, Öztek Tekstil, Topkapi Iplik Sanayi, Tekstüre Çorap Sanayi, Akin Tekstil, Narin Tekstil, Vakko, Yünsa, Kordsa, Söktas, Levis, Saray Hali, Dual, Pisa Tekstil, Bahariye ve Altinyildiz.

Over 11,000 textile workers from these 17 companies will be taking part in this demonstration.

It is anticipated that the sector is likely to lose around US $3 billion, if the strike takes place.
