Chongging City abounds with footwear production base

Apr '08
Shifting production base to west China has become almost like a trend. Over 30 shoe making firms and some 250 support enterprises have already set up production bases in Chongging City.

After Double Star, Aokang Group and Red Dragonfly, Kangnai Group is also following the footprints to set up an entirely new production base in the region.

Major reason behind this trend is that shortage of land, rising cost of raw material and inadequate electric and oil supplies are forcing a large number of footwear manufacturers to move out from the eastern side of the country.

Moreover, Chongging City offers a host of facilities like transport, preferential trade policies, low cost of land and other resources. Besides, by making use of the Changjiang River, manufacturers can easily export their produce to central and western market of China in cases of low regional demand.

Government has also lent its support to footwear manufacturers by investing over 500 million yuan for setting up infrastructural facilities, 1000 mu of wholesales center for shoe materials, over 8000 square meters of logistical center and a warehouse center comprising more than 16000 square meters.

Research and development center, training center, quality test center and other support facilities for shoe manufacturers will also be set up eventually.
