The Canadian Border Service Agency (CBSA) has recently initiated an anti-dumping investigation in to import of shoes and water proof boots, originating from China and Vietnam, to which the Vietnamese manufacturers have strongly refuted the claims.
This investigation was initiated at the instance of the Shoe Manufacturers Association of Canada and gives the Vietnamese footwear producers, just about 35 days to answer and raise objections to the anti-dumping probe.
Vietnam which exported US $5 billion of footwear in 2008, shipped $93 million worth of the same, like shoes, waterproof rubber shoes and bottoms to Canada. The producers cite low manufacturing costs and using domestic materials, for their competitiveness.
