Kingpins Amsterdam to focus on future of denim industry
Kingpins Amsterdam show 2018 is set to focus on the future of the denim industry, featuring collections from the latest Spring/Summer 2020 season. The show for denim and sportswear fabric mills, will be held on October 24 and 25, 2018. The Kingpins Transformers summit for the members of the denim supply chain will also be held on October 23, 2018.

The Kingpins Transformers: Innovation is a summit that will feature members of the denim supply chain that are disrupting and rewriting the rules for everything from how we make fibres and dye fabrics, to how we inspect our suppliers, how we dispose of our waste, and how we make our garments safer for our bodies and the planet, according to a media statement from Kingpins.

The keynote speaker, Adriana Galijasevic of G-Star RAW, will start the day; followed by Roian Atwood of Lee and Wrangler; Tricia Carey of Lenzing; Danielle Statham of FibreTrace; Mark W. O’Neill of Inspectorio; and Ralph Tharpe of IndigoZERO.

At Kingpins, attendees will find a selection of some of the best and most innovative members of the denim supply chain. Ranging from fibre, including sponsors Lycra and e3 Cotton, to technology and machinery makers, mills and manufacturers, chemicals, trim suppliers and laundries, exhibitors at Kingpins Amsterdam will be showing their Spring/Summer 2020 collections and latest innovations for the first time.

The Kingpins Transformers at the Transformatorhuis is a new show inside Kingpins Amsterdam, featuring some of the most innovative and transformative companies on our show floor. This show-in-show debuted in April 2018 and will feature the latest from Candiani Denim, Orta Anadolu, Arvind Limited, Tejidos Royo, Bossa T.A.S., Jeanologia, Tonello, Elleti Group, Rudolf Group, SEI Laser, Officina +39, and the ZDHC Foundation.

The Kingpins Trend S/S 2020 Garment Installation + Forecast will feature a curated selection of garments designed by Kingpins exhibitors and inspired by the Kingpins Trend forecast developed by Amy Leverton, trend forecaster and consultant.

Worn x Kingpins Volume 1 is a new concept magazine by The Vintage Showroom and Kingpins Show that explores global street style and the vintage garments that inspire them. This limited-edition magazine will be available on the Amsterdam show floor at The Vintage Showroom booth. The Japanese Special Section will be a capsule of Japanese mills and resources and the Taiwan Textile Collective will be a capsule of Taiwanese mills and resources.

‘The Kingpins Denim Trends for S/S 2020. Fit, fabric, finish’ seminar will be presented by Amy Leverton of Denim Dudes, featuring the four trends that will define the season.

The seminar ‘+ 100 Years of Women’s Garments at Levi Strauss & Co.’ will be presented by Tracey Panek, Levi Strauss & Co. historian. 100 years ago, Levi Strauss & Co. created its first garment for women, Freedom-Alls, a one-piece tunic over balloon pants. Since then Levi’s has pioneered the first women’s blue jean and a variety of other denim creations for women. Tracey will review 100 years of Levi’s women’s garments & explore stories of the women who wore them.

The seminar ‘+ Denim Branded – Jeanswear’s Evolving Design Details’ will be presented by author and graphic designer/branding expert Nick Williams, exploring denim branding’s evolution and give us a history lesson. (GK)
