Indian e-commerce company Flipkart has announced new strategic policies that will enable micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to conduct online business with ease and grow sustainably. The new policy changes emphasise on easy settlements, reduction in platform fees, and new programmes for greater ease of doing business online and helping sellers grow.

Some of the features and capabilities introduced by Flipkart include easy settlements, simplified rate card, single final settlement value for the sellers, reduction in the platform fee, growth programmes – Flipkart Ignite and Business Experts, and AI-led cataloguing support, according to a press release.

“Enabling the growth and success of our seller partners is a key priority for Flipkart. We are committed to finding technology-based solutions to address the needs and challenges of the seller ecosystem. We have introduced the second phase of the Flipkart EDGE initiative to ensure sustained growth and ease of doing business online. The future of business is digital, and the initiatives and innovations we have introduced will help our MSME and seller partners take important steps towards making their business more resilient, profitable, and future-ready,” said Jagjeet Harode, senior director and head – marketplace, Flipkart.

These changes are an extension to the measures that were introduced in April 2022 which comprised a 10-minute onboarding process, ease of listing, and faster payments. The simplification of the onboarding process via mobile phones with fewer steps led to a 2x jump in onboarded sellers and a 4x surge from the sign-up stage, the company said.
