The two most challenged categories were handbags and cosmetics as females reprioritise their spending with eating out and footwear or apparel.
While lululemon is seventh most preferred apparel brand, within footwear, Crocs is the seventh most preferred brand.
Food continues to be male teens’ topmost spending category (23 per cent), clothing is female teens’ topmost wallet share (27 per cent), according to a company release.
While around nine-tenths of girls preferred shopping for beauty in store versus online, 89 per cent of female teens use online influencers as a source of discovery for beauty brands and trends.
Preppy brands such as Sperry, Ralph Lauren and Vineyard Vines continue to cede share to athletic brands—36 per cent of preferred apparel brands are athletic, up from 34 per cent last Fall.
European luxury brands account for 30 per cent of mindshare among preferred handbag brands like Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Chanel.
iPhone ownership remains at 83 per cent, while 86 per cent of teens expect an iPhone to be their next phone.
