Cambodia's $1.12 bn e-com market of 2024 may reach $1.81 bn in 2029

Cambodia's e-commerce market value reached nearly $1.12 billion last year and is projected to reach $1.81 billion in 2029, growing at a CAGR of 9.98 per cent, a new report by the ministry of commerce revealed.
The evolution from e-commerce to a broader digital trade ecosystem will be instrumental in ensuring economic resilience and global competitiveness, commerce minister Cham Nimul said.

Cambodia’s e-commerce market value reached nearly $1.12 billion last year and is projected to reach $1.81 billion in 2029, growing at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.98 per cent on the back of rapid digital payment adoption, a tech-savvy youth population, rising smartphone penetration and strong government support, according to a report published by the ministry of commerce.

Commerce minister Cham Nimul said that the growth indicates the country’s broader commitment to digital transformation, as outlined in the Pentagonal Strategy Phase I and the Digital Economy and Society Policy Framework 2021-2035.

“By strengthening its institutional capacity, the ministry aims to provide more dedicated and targeted support to the industry, ensuring that businesses and consumers alike can fully leverage the opportunities presented by digital transformation,” she was quoted as saying by domestic media reports.

As Cambodia deepens its digital integration, the evolution from e-commerce to a broader digital trade ecosystem will be instrumental in ensuring economic resilience and global competitiveness, Nimul was cited as saying by a domestic media outlet.
