Bangladesh GDP growth slows to 3.03% in Q2 FY26: Provisional estimates

The provisional gross domestic product (GDP) growth in Bangladesh slowed to 3.03 per cent in the second quarter (Q2) of this fiscal (FY26, which started in July 2025) compared to a revised 3.53 per cent in the same quarter of the previous fiscal, according to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

The revised GDP growth in Q1 FY26 was 4.96 per cent compared to 3.91 per cent in Q1 FY25.

The GDP was Tk 15,176.15 billion in Q2 FY26 at current prices—up from Tk 13,901.47 billion in the corresponding quarter of FY25.

The industrial sector saw a significant slowdown, as growth dropped sharply to 1.27 per cent in Q2 FY26, compared to 5.78 per cent in the same quarter of the previous fiscal. However, the sector performed better in Q1, posting a 6.82-per cent growth.
