The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has approved Gujarat State Petronet Limited's (GSPL) proposal to lay the Anjar–Palanpur pipeline as part of the expansion of its existing High Pressure Gujarat Gas Grid.
The proposed pipeline, spanning 274 kilometres, will originate from Anjar in Gujarat, connecting with GSPL’s 36-inch Mundra–Arpar pipeline, and terminate at Palanpur in Banaskantha district, linking to the Mehsana–Bhatinda Pipeline (MBPL). The new spur line will have a diameter of 30 inches and a capacity of 12 MMSCMD (Million Metric Standard Cubic Metres per Day), GSPL said in an NSE listing.
The total capital expenditure (capex) for the project is pegged at ₹2,051.18 crore (~$237.8 million), as informed by GSPL. However, the Board has clarified that this capex will not be considered in the future tariff calculations for GSPL’s High Pressure Gas Grid and will be accounted for only after verification of actual expenditure.
Post-expansion, the provisional total capacity of GSPL’s High Pressure Gujarat Gas Grid will rise to 44.76 MMSCMD. PNGRB has noted that this capacity is provisional and will be finalised in accordance with regulations concerning natural gas pipeline capacity determination.
The project is expected to be completed within three years from the date of this approval. All other terms and conditions of GSPL’s original authorisation dated 27 July 2012, along with its subsequent amendments, will remain unchanged.
