The British Fashion Council (BFC) has announced that The Fashion Awards 2021 will take place on 29 November, at the iconic Royal Albert Hall, London. The Fashion Awards 2021 will expand its global reach with a new creative approach and future-facing ambition, while celebrating those who have had an important impact on the fashion industry in 2021.

The event, one of the most anticipated moments of the global fashion calendar, has been reimagined to place fashion at the intersection of culture and create a global entertainment platform for brands, creatives, designers, artists, and tastemakers to come together and celebrate the fashion industry, BFC said in a media statement.

This year’s event will include accolades including Designer of the Year and the BFC Foundation Award. Following last year’s highly successful digital format, The Fashion Awards will also honour and celebrate Leaders of Change; the designers, brands, creatives, and individuals who created positive change within the fashion industry this past year, under five categories: Environment, People, Community & Craftsmanship, Creativity, and Culture. Nominees, winners, and honourees are voted for by a panel made up of over 800 key members of the international fashion industry. Voting will launch in September. Other awards on the night include special recognition awards, such as the Outstanding Achievement Award, the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator and Fashion Icon.

New Wave: Creatives, the list that includes the most innovative and inspiring young creative talents from around the world, will return for the fourth year. New Wave: Creatives has become a digital tool created to showcase the community and is being widely used by the international industry as an active resource of the best global fashion talent outside of product design, according to BFC.

The Fashion Awards is a fundraiser for the BFC Foundation, the charity that brings all the BFC’s charitable initiatives under one umbrella, supporting the future growth and success of the British fashion industry by focusing on education, grant-giving, and business mentoring. In 2020/21, the BFC raised £1.7million for the BFC Foundation and was able to support 33 designers and a few students through financial support grants and mentoring.

The BFC will ensure that The Fashion Awards can take place safely in line with health and safety rules. The event will be staged in accordance with the UK Government Guidelines.
