ALROSA Co Ltd declares the ninth international auction

Russian diamond maker ALROSA Co Ltd announced the ninth international auction with the Diamond Chamber of Russia to sell special-siz?d rough diamonds opened on June 27, 2005.
The bidders were 42 Russian and foreign companies of high business reputation from Israel, Belgium, India, Japan, China, United Arab Emirates, Italy, Belarus specialized in large diamonds.
For a month the lots were available for preview on the premises of the Diamond Chamber of Russia. Altogether 104 boxes (749 diamonds) of over 12.8 thousand carats in weight were offered for sale. These included 10 exceptionally large diamonds, each weighing over 50 carats. The largest diamond available for sale weighed 121.96 carats.
The winners were announced on July 28th , 2005. All the boxes were sold bringing the total of US 23.66 million.
Until the end of the current year another two international rough auctions are planned to be held. The preview of the diamonds for the next auction will begin on August 22d, 2005. The winners will be announced on September 22d, 2005.
ALROSA Co Ltd is a closed-type joint-stock company, successor to the enterprises, organizations and divisions of the former YakutAlmaz Association, Committee for Precious Metals and Precious Gemstones (Gokhran of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation) and the Almazjuvelirexport Foreign Trade Association specialized in sorting, initial processing and supply of rough diamonds which were incorporated into the Company's structure.
