Pearl Academy of Fashion (PAF) held a competition to promote sustainable and ethical business practices amongst students through a national-level contest: Creative Thinkers 2012.

Organised to promote innovative thinking based upon the global emphasis on sustainability, the series of competitions witnessed participation from undergraduate and post-graduate students from colleges across the country showcasing their creative calibre, while promoting the best business practices in the fashion and design industry.

On the culmination of the competition, Dr AKG Nair, Group Director, Pearl Academy of Fashion, proudly stated, “Pearl Academy of Fashion has always taken the initiative in promoting creative ideas amongst students as the industry constantly requires fresh insights and creative inputs.

Considering the industry's emphasis on sustainable fashion and PAF's tradition of inculcating responsibility in budding fashion and design leaders, we believe Creative Thinkers 2012 helps students in thinking of innovative ideas aligned with global trends. The competition brings students from different parts of the country on the same platform to test their fashion aesthetics and creative sense of design.”

The competition was divided into two categories. Category A catered to 'Student Project Competitions' on Sustainable Fashion under various themes, such as Ethical Business Practices, Sustainable Fashion, Sustainable Retail, and Innovative Sustainable Technology.

Category B, 'Prove a Point', permitted students to present their best ideas via a presentation under different themes, such as Design Vision for India, Corporate Governance, Fashion and Styling, and Retail Business, that were sub-themed into Fashion and Communication, Ethics and Creating Value, Feel Good and Its my Style, The Next Step and Luxury Retail, respectively. The final presentations were held on 26 and 27 March at the Delhi campus of Pearl Academy of Fashion before an eminent jury of professionals and academicians.

Building on the premise of fashion and design, Pearl Academy of Fashion consistently encourages students from all over India to come up with innovative, creative ideas to express themselves. Open competitions such as Creative Thinkers – wherein students from various colleges can participate in the competition – are aimed at exploring the creative potential of students across professions and inculcate a sense of responsibility in adopting creative ideas to tackle conventional issues not limited to fashion.
