With less than four weeks to go until Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, the fashion industry is gearing up with anticipation for the unveiling of the Spring Summer 2013/14 Collections. IMG Fashion announced the Official schedule for this season, featuring a standout line up of rising talent, established brands and returning designers who will take centre stage at Carriageworks, April 8th–12th, 2013.

“Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia provides an unrivalled platform for Australia’s design talent to showcase their vision to a worldwide audience beyond the Event’s physical footprint and into the digital world with over half a million followers, fans and conversationalists.

“This season’s Event will take place at our new home and be opened by Camilla and Marc in honor of their ten year anniversary. Additionally, Jayson Brunsdon will also celebrate 10 years of his eponymous label, and Aurelio Costarella will join an illustrious few marking 30th years in the business in 2013,” said Jarrad Clark, Director of Global Production, IMG Fashion Events and Properties.

Clark also confirmed “Australian fashion icon Alex Perry will return to the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia runway alongside a number of designers making their debut, including Vanishing Elephant, Phoenix Keating, Serpent & the Swan, Season 4 Project Runway Australia winner Christina Exie and Kahlo.

"Rounding up the solo shows, we welcome our designers involved in our group show launch pads: New Generation, Swim and The Student showcases, which are sure to provide some future stars.”

NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Trade and Investment, Andrew Stoner, welcomed the announcement of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia official schedule, saying the calibre of designers showing this season reinforced Sydney’s position as Australia’s fashion capital and the home of the creative industries.

“Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia is the nation’s premier fashion industry event and is proudly supported by the NSW Government, through our tourism and major events agency Destination NSW,” Mr. Stoner said.

“This year’s line-up features Australia’s most celebrated fashion designers and exciting up-and-coming brands, and I wish them every success. The Event continues to provide a platform for exciting business opportunities for our fashion designers and the Australian fashion industry.”

Carriageworks will welcome over 25,000 guests over the course of the Event, a week that promises to be packed full of runway shows, presentations and special events. Additionally, this season will welcome, leading fashion trade fair, ‘Premiere’, giving industry guests access to additional designer, footwear and accessory brands.
