Bright orange, lemon sorbet, acid yellow and watermelon green: just some of the colours selected by Wooyoungmi to evoke the feeling of energy, vitality and a strong summer sun that fuelled her vision of Spring / Summer 2012.

The film The Talented Mr Ripley put the design duo of Wooyoungmi and sister Woojanghee in mind of sophisticated resort wear. Placing this in a modern context, they present a collection that is at once traditional and quirky.

A raffia theme runs throughout; visors, bags and tops in the fabric capture a naivety that is offset by the sophistication of relaxed suiting. Embracing unique prints for the first time allows a playfulness and brings pieces like the Hawaiian shirt into the present. Elements of active wear add a graphic edge to the laid back silhouette.

Knits are relaxed and echo the raffia weave. Of course, the essence of Wooyoungmi remains in the washed navy, taupe and beige that give a base to the stronger contrast of colours. The signature detailing is evident still, if just with a little more subtlety. Accessories highlight the easy summer mood with bags designed to be strapped across the back or worn around the waist for leisure time. Hats and visors keep the sun off the face and jelly soles bring freshness to classic shoe styles.

Collaborating for the first time with London based designer Linda Farrow, Wooyoungmi's collection features two new sunglasses styles. Hand-made with a focus on material and construction the result is classic yet modern and showcases a new hinge especially designed by Linda Farrow.
