Russia produced 22.822 million items of gold jewelry in the first nine months of 2005, informed the Assay Chamber to the media.
Last year, it was 19.14 million items, up 19 percent. The Hallmark Chamber, which hallmarks all jewelry produced in Russia or imported to Russia, stated that jewelers used 58.47 tons of gold compared to last year's 48.29 tons, up 21 per cent.
A total of 23.27 million items of gold jewelry made from 60.74 tons of gold, including jewelry of foreign make was hallmarked by the Chamber.
It also hallmarked 448,000 items of foreign-made jewelry made from 2.27 tons of gold.
Silver jewelry of 16.67 million items of Russian and foreign make was made from 108.94 tons of silver, including 4 million items of imported silver jewelry weighing 27.74 tons; 13,770 items of platinum jewelry containing 81.03 kg of platinum; and 4,490 items of palladium jewelry containing 22.21 kg of palladium, was hallmarked by the Chamber.
