Pacific Sunwear Dec sales up 10.9%

Surf & skate inspired apparel seller Pacific Sunwear of California Inc reported that total sales for the five weeks of fiscal December, ending December 31, 2005 were $242.4 million, an increase of 10.9 percent over total sales of $218.6 million during the same period last year.
Total Company same store sales increased 1.0 percent during the same period. By concept, PacSun same store sales increased 1.5 percent and d.e.m.o. same store sales decreased 2.3 percent compared to the same five week period last year.
Total sales for the first eleven months (48 weeks) of fiscal 2005 were $1,316.2 million, an increase of 13.0 percent over total sales of $1,164.4 million for the same period last year.
Total Company same store sales increased 3.1 percent during the same eleven month period with PacSun same store sales up 3.4 percent and d.e.m.o. same store sales up 1.0 percent.
Pacific Sunwear, operating under two distinct retail concepts, is a leading specialty retailer of everyday casual apparel, accessories and footwear designed to meet the needs of active teens and young adults.
As of December 31, 2005, the Company operated 812 PacSun stores, 96 PacSun Outlet stores and 198 d.e.m.o. stores for a total of 1,106 stores in 50 states and Puerto Rico.
The Company intends to launch its third concept, One Thousand Steps, in the first half of 2006.
