Apache Footwear Limited, authorised manufacturer of 'Adidas' brand of sports shoes, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh (AP) government to set up its unit in Nellore district.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, Chief Minister of AP.
This project involves foreign investment of Rs500 crore. The initial production capacity of this unit would be more than one million pairs per month by employing more than 30000 people.
Decision of selecting AP to set up unit was driven by the amount of incentives, concessions and support provided by the local government, said Johnson Tsai, Chairman, Apache.
Apache plans to send supervisors and a managerial team to China for training.
The unit will be developed as Special Economic Zone (SEZ)exclusively for footwear having all infrastructural facilities.
