Vaishali Shadangule, Purvi Doshi and Sashikant Naidu celebrated Indian Textile Day by displaying a trio of unforgettable fashion collections at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012.

Vaishali Shadangule revived the beauty of “Khand” the fabulous traditional Maharashtrian handloom, and turned it into truly dream outfits. Khand which means Sugar is in brown and green tones and Vaishali used this 36 inches width fabric with great imagination and creativity and added on maroon and deep blue to complete the story.

Restoring the beauty of this fabric onto the fashion catwalks, Vaishali used the rich textures innovatively for beautiful women's wear. Also using Chanderi discreetly, Vaishali blended the two for a collection of long drapes, tunics, shirts, stole, jumpsuits, jackets, saris and kurtas.

The silhouettes were unconventional with lots of asymmetry amongst the garments and layering which gave that rustic feel. The knee length bundis in Chanderi with Khand border, the pleated one piece creation, the tiny Khand jacket, the kurta style blouse with overlap and the one side kurta style, revealed Vaishali's control over her fabrics and construction techniques.

For women who love tradition and heritage textiles, Vaishali Shadangule's collection “Khand” will create a stylish impact not only on the national but global fashion scene.
