PFF presents Banshu Fashion Textile Program Exhibition

Ellen Lund elaborates on the textile processes, “The textile design process was more fascinating than I had hoped for. Being able to see all stages from dying thread, grouping threads to creating a pattern, to the weaving process, was amazing. The specific detail and time that it takes to create these fabrics gave me a level of appreciation and respect for the process that I had not anticipated.”

Cynthia Chong describes her experience, “Japan was always a dream destination since childhood, with an interest in Japanese art, food, and culture. Being able to experience the business culture, learning about the Japanese traditional textile industry and seeing other fashion graduates work from around the globe, whilst touring the country was really an eye opening experience.”

The Program is ongoing, and was established in 2010 to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the Sister State relationship between Western Australia and Hyogo, Japan, which was in 2011. The Program is supported by the Government of Western Australia, the Hyogo Prefectural Government Cultural Centre and the Banshu textile industry.

PFF is supported by the City of Perth and the State Government through Eventscorp, the Department of Culture and the Arts.
