Indonesia's footwear exports for the year 2005 were $1.8 billion, up 20 percent from $1.5 billion in 2004, informed Association of Shoe Makers (Aprisindo).
Indonesia considers the European Union and the United States as very important footwear markets.
Aprisindo Secretary Yudhi Komaruddin said on Thursday, that Indonesia can have 20 percent EU market share, exporting $300 million worth of footwear this year subject to EU allegation of dumping done by rival footwear suppliers.
Footwear exports would get a boost because of Generalized System of Preference (GSP) offered by the EU to Indonesian footwear.
This offer is under consideration as it implies import duty cut from 17 percent to 14 percent on Indonesian products.
