Ritu Kumar as grand finale designer for WIFW S/S 13 season

Wills Lifestyle, ITC’s premium fashion brand is delighted to announce Ritu Kumar as the grand finale designer for Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week Spring/Summer’13 (WIFW) S/S’13 edition. The veteran designer & empress of Indian haute couture is all set to grace the finale stage with a collection that will depict both history and the future in a dual collection and will appeal to all generations and tastes. Ritu Kumar has also created an exclusive collection for Wills Lifestyle’s Signature Line for the AW’12 season which will be retailed from stores across the country.

Atul Chand, Divisional Chief Executive, ITC’s Lifestyle Retailing Business Division, said, “The Wills Lifestyle Grand Finale has always set new benchmarks in creativity and showcased the best of Indian fashion talent.  The finale is a mix of fashion and drama and our endeavor is to make it a great experience full of splendor & grandeur. Ritu Kumar is one of India’s foremost designers and a legend! She’s sure to amaze the fashionistas with her unique style reflecting the ancient traditions of Indian craftsmanship in a contemporary vocabulary at the grand finale.”

He further adds, “At Wills Lifestyle, we have embarked on a unique initiative – of a corporate partnership with India’s leading designers to retail their exclusive collections at our stores, making designer-wear accessible and promoting the business of fashion. This festive season, we are delighted to have Ritu Kumar creations being launched at Wills Lifestyle.”

Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) president, Mr. Sunil Sethi remarked, "Veteran style guru Ritu Kumar is the grand dame of the fashion industry which makes her the ideal choice to close the WIFW spring-summer 2013. Known for reviving rich, traditional Indian crafts, Ritu has dressed many celebrities, both in India as well as internationally. Several Ms Indias have won laurels for the nation in her beautiful ensembles. I have been in awe of her creativity for eons and I wish her all the best for the grand finale show."

Speaking on the occasion, Ritu Kumar said, “"The brand completes 45 years in the fashion industry and it’s been a pleasure to be associated with the fashion week. We are very excited to do the Wills Lifestyle Grand Finale this season. The collection has been inspired by the ART DECO movement of the previous century and is presented through the unique design language of the brand. The Label garments are crafted to offer a modern representation, while the Couture collection dips into the romance of the 1930s and draws from the influences the movement had in India.”

The Wills Lifestyle grand finale collection is infused with modern urban energy and at the same time incorporates traditional crafts techniques that are synonymous with Ritu Kumar’s heritage. The distinctive element of the finale is the showcasing of the wide range of the Ritu Kumar signature brand on one platform through a lavish and adventurous presentation.
