The grand finale of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) Spring/Summer 2013 culminated with two consecutive spectacular shows by internationally-acclaimed Indian fashion designer Ritu Kumar.

The Delhi-based designer concluded the biggest Indian fashion event with two magical catwalk presentations, first one featuring a collection from her label named ‘Ritu Kumar’, and the second one showcasing her latest heavy couture range.

The ensembles featured in her opening show were inspired by the magical Spanish era of 1930s, 40s and 50s. The line showcased skirts, dresses and gowns woven with exotic fabrics like silk, chiffon, crepe and twill, along with a heavy dose of beautiful motifs all over.

The second segment of the designer’s runway presentation had a musical Bollywood feel. The show featured around 35 outfits, highlighting European influence on the Indian royalty dressing styles during the British reign. The collection was a mix of lehangas, sarees, shararas and gowns in rich laces, brocades and embroideries.

The glamorous Indian model and film actress Esha Gupta, dressed in a black and gold asymmetrical lehanga, catwalked as the showstopper of Ritu’s final show.

Earlier at the event, designer Raj Shroff presented a gothic styled collection titled ‘I am Black I am White’. The line includes a range of contemporary apparels, including sheet black jackets with loose silhouettes.

Sulakshana Monga’s clothing line ‘Soltee’ focused on the tougher side of women. The military-inspired collection was a fusion of traditional and western silhouettes. The silk, chiffon, georgette and Chanderi ensembles were detailed with thread embroideries, patchwork and geometrical webs.

Designer Nida Mahmood showcased a quirky dreamy line called ‘Sapna Cinema’ inspired by the extravagantly colourful Bollywood movies. The range was a collection of funky, summery outfits made of cotton, silk, crepe and Japanese fabrics with a heavy usage of rooster motifs.
