Sigrid Olsen rolls out footwear collection

Sigrid Olsen, a brand known for its artistic and stylishly relaxed women's apparel and accessories, has entered into an agreement in principle with New York Transit Inc to manufacture, distribute and market footwear under the Sigrid Olsen brand name.
The Sigrid Olsen Footwear Collection will launch to the trade at the FFANY shoe market in June of 2006, with its retail debut at select department and Sigrid Olsen specialty stores in November of 2006.
The line will include casual, career, and dress footwear, staying true to the Sigrid Olsen signature use of interesting materials, details and color.
Sigrid Olsen, Creative Director of Sigrid Olsen, said, "Shoes are an important part of every woman's wardrobe, and I am excited to announce the addition of footwear to the Sigrid Olsen product line."
"I am inspired by our shoe licensee, NY Transit, and have complete confidence in their ability to capture the Sigrid Olsen aesthetic and translate it into footwear designs my consumers will love," Olsen said.
Noel Hord, President and COO of New York Transit Inc, said, "We are very pleased about partnering with the Sigrid Olsen team to introduce the brand into the women's footwear arena. Sigrid Olsen has a strong following, and how better to enhance that relationship than to add footwear that reflects her sense of style and taste."
Len Pesko will be the President of Sigrid Olsen footwear division. The brand will maintain a showroom at1370 Avenue of the Americas with the first collection being featured there in June 2006.
An artist, Sigrid Olsen launched her apparel line 20 years ago and has seen it grow from casual resort wear to a lifestyle collection including sportswear, handbags, jewelry, and knit accessories, bed, bath and table linens, sunglasses and optics and now footwear.
