Costly 'spit' runs a perfumery for years

Truly a fortune's worth, this seemingly odd substance can run a perfumery for years and it was found by lucky Australian West Coast resident Loralee and her husband during a beach walk.

Loralee chanced upon this about 14.75 kgs mound called called Ambergris, when added to perfumes, slows down its evaporation rate, and is very costly too!

How much you'd ask, and its going rate is estimated $20 per gram that makes it to almost $190,000. Fortune then, isn't it?

This is an indigestible substance which a sperm whale discharges through its mouth and a decade's natural exposure to nature, bring out its true smell or fragrance.

It is claimed that ambergris could keep a major perfumery going for close to 20 years and currently most use human-made materials, it is the Middle Eastern countries which still use
it in its purest form.

With Loralee striking a fortune during a beach walk; shall we suggest one for you?

Hold on, it would take a lifetime or probably more to find one like this one. And for records, one media source reported that a Caribbean find weighed 30 Kgs.

It is also said that just one percent of sperm whales belch out this sticky ambergris, and hardest of part is to identify one among all!
