The Japanese fashion extravaganza Tokyo Collection Week was a delightful parade of exquisite spring/summer 2013 collections, where the local and not the high-end fashion dominated the runways.

Other than independent designers, around fifty clothing brands showcased their creations at the fashion event.

Tamae Hirokawa, the designer behind the clothing label SOMARTA, presented a challenging mix and match collection with contrasting colours and prints on a variety of tops and tights. The line focused mainly on blending various patterns like flowing flowers and interesting plant prints in bold hues like yellow and blue.

Renowned designer Motonari Ono, behind the ‘motonari ono’ brand, worked on the unique idea of bringing the insides of the clothes on the outsides. He brought stitches in the lining to the surface of the outfit by using sheer see-through fabrics and bold black lines on them, teamed up with a cute floral print dress underneath that highlighted the delicacy of young innocence.

Designer Yasutoshi Ezumi featured a stylishly exciting line-up of clothes that had an underlying hint of sensuality. The designs were a combination of see-through lace blouses and exquisite suits.
