Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week celebrates spring

So what if the famous French capital is knee-deep in thickly covered icy layers of snow, there were spring time celebrations going on in the venue of Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week.

After Versace kicked off the event yesterday with an ample dose of front-row glitterati and delectable haute couture creations, the first day of the glamorous fashion soiree opened with a series of avant-garde Spring/Summer 2013 haute couture ensembles by the bigwigs of the fashion industry.

Dior’s newly appointed creative head Raf Simons continued with his last season’s idea of flower women in his latest collection of 47-pieces, featuring multi-layered flower embroideries and detailing. The gold, yellow and blue appliqués stitched on the label’s signature hourglass shaped gowns were occasionally replaced with silk ball skirts or embroidered bustier accentuated with touches of lemon, off-white and lilac hues.

The Dutch fashion designer Iris Van Herpen presented an electrifying, high-voltage show. The 28-year-old designer’s continuous exploration of organic life was evident in her latest 11-piece couture range, spiced up with white trapezoid silhouettes and spiky appliques spread all over.

Parisian couturier Maurizio Galante showcased a nature-inspired line, made of thin luxurious fabrics like crepe, chiffon, organza and taffeta. Decorated with looping, shredding, draping and crystal beads, the ensembles were giving an impression of the delicate layers of foliage.
