The Narendra Kumar brand epitomises modern luxury, integrating the richness of specially woven Indian fabrics and hand crafted detailing. Strandofsilk.com launches the New Age Bridal collection by Narendra Kumar.

Strand of Silk is proud to announce the launch of the New Age Bridal collection by Indian Fashion Designer Narendra Kumar. The collection includes styles for a modern bride who demands contemporary styling but with an inspiration from Indian traditions.

Narendra Kumar’s graduated from NIFT, New Delhi in 1990. After graduating from NIFT, he honed his skills and designed with Ensemble, Rohit Khosla and Tarun Tahiliani. ‘Nari’, as he is fondly known amongst the fashion fraternity, was the founding Fashion Editor for Elle in India and continues to work with several leading fashion magazines.

Narendra Kumar launched his first eponymous collection in 2000. The brand epitomises modern luxury, structured silhouette and sharp tailoring while integrating the richness of specially woven Indian fabrics and hand crafted detailing.

The designer launched his bridal collection at the Couture fashion week in India in 2012, the first time that Narendra Kumar created a couture bridal collection. In his words, "There are thousands of designers doing bridal wear. It took me three years to come up with something different... for the new age bride. She's far more aware, well-travelled and has a better understanding of the finer aspects of garment". His collection of Indian bridal dresses includes Bridal Sarees, Bridal Lehengas and other styles of Indian wedding clothes.

The collection is influenced by the classical ballet traditions and is inspired by compositions representative of Romanticism in Russian classical music. The aesthetic is romantic and classic with a youthful, modern twist. The fabrics are rich and include silks, velvets, georgettes, soft satins and rich organza. The styling is contemporary and features voluminous Lehengas, embellished Sarees and opulent ball gowns. The detailing is inspired by traditional Indian crafts and includes appliqué embroidery, quilting, colour blocking, layering and panelling.

The Narendra Kumar bride is a globetrotting woman who exudes sophistication and confidence. She has an individual sense of style and understands couture quality. She desires to be chic and elegant, traditional yet stylishly modern. She wants to have fun and dance at her wedding!
