Masaba Gupta launched her eponymous label July 2009. With a Diploma in Apparel Manufacture and Design from Mumbai’s SNDT Women’s University (2009), she created a diffusion line catering to women from the age group of 25-50 years. The silhouettes are no-fuss, simple, and commercially viable, yet of high cut and fashion. Dhotis, angarakhas, jumpsuits, iIkat and silk sarees, and shift dresses are some of the silhouettes that define Masaba.
The colors are vibrant with patchwork playing a predominant role in most of the garments. The color palette is vast, with canary yellows, aubergines, paprika reds, bottle greens, deep aqua, all polished off with black and white. Masaba’s first collection, Kattran, debuted at Lakme Fashion Week under the GenNext category for Spring Summer 2010.
