'A woman's whole life in a single day. Just one day and in that day — a whole life

In this A/W 2013 collection Dubal captures the many moods of a woman's persona/ garden - a winter rendition that is a summation of all her life's seasons

The Winter Garden resonates with the strums of a bohemian rhapsody, of spring in winter. The sudden rush of color glides across exquisite ensembles of wool and silk, scattering light in brilliant hues — over dresses, tunics, embroidered jackets and wool capes. There is a play of tie and dye, embroidered patchwork and flower prints, enjoying an aesthetic eminence in silk and velvet textures.

The Winter Garden grows on intuition, emotion and love, joyously reaffirming life. Hidden in Its layers is the celebration of nature and the beauty of the earth, that is slowly decaying due to industry and environmental degradation. A need to protect our planet by going back to nature is the voice beneath!

Evocative of the 60s and 70s psychedelic orange.  Green, pink and blue against black waft across, creating an elegant and vibrant collection, This collection hints of a metaphysical travel, where the soul and embroideries marry in a vibrant palette through vintage accessories - though retro looking, eternally youthful.

The use of chintz like embroidery, mirrors and fine threadwork surface, where velvets and silks transform into unusual styles in drapes and structures. The En i silk infuse the styles with a wonderful balance, that draws from the elements of nature in color schemes based on earth, wind, water and fire. In the Winter Garden, the Earth celebrates her play with nature, with nuances of Japanese aesthetics.

Patronage of his jackets and capes by women who are eclectic, evolved and have supported "Sanskar" through the years include Linda Leitch (wife of Singer Dononvan),Natascha Weir (wife of Bob Weir from Rock group Grateful Dead), Leslie Cockburn — writer and American film maker, Gail Percy — Anthropologist and Representative, Judy Kilachand Director Business program of Asia Society in New York and at home Madhu Trehan, Karen Anand, Ritu Dalmia, Barkha Due, Naina Kidwai, Sonam Kapoor and Malvika Tiwari to name a few.

Dubai is grateful to Kiran Rao of Amethyst (Chennai) for the jewelry and Akila Seshasayee (Textile Artist) for especially creating Pop Art prints for the collection Indeed. Sonam Dubal's Winter Garden captures the innate and emotional spirit of a much travelled person, who revels in the youthful spirit of wholeness.

Sonam Dubal completes her tenth year of evolution in fashion through his label SANSKAR. A brand regarded by both patrons and media as being serene, easy and having a rustic feel to the way textiles combine with prints and embroideries, in stories that reflect local crafts in a global setting.

Prominent writers including Suzy Menkes of International Herald Tribune, Style writer Hillary Alexander and Vogue Director Bandana Tiwari have noted that his work has the spirit of an academician with indigenous textiles, appealing to women from different spheres of life, from unique parts of the world. In the process, he has come to understand himself as an 'artisan who communicates his ideas and thoughts through his collections
