Japanese retail giant, Uniqlo plans to open its outlet in Manhattan's district's tony Soho area in New York city.
Company is in talks to rent a 50000 square feet of store space that will cover three floors on a prime block of Broadway between Spring and Prince.
The location is close to the two-floor Prada store that was lately damaged by fire.
Uniqlo, considered to be Japan's equivalent to Gap, is famous for trading in low-priced, casuals,denims, classically styled outerwear and cashmere sweaters.
The store will focus on its high-quality, low-price strategy for American consumers.
Its first appearance in the US was in September 2005 with a 8000 square foot store in New Jersey and has since opened shops in two other New Jersey malls.
Uniqlo has nearly 680 locations in Japan, and has helped its parent company, Fast Retailing, rake in over $3 billion in sales in 2005.
