Suman Nathwani sleepwear to rise at Lakme Fashion Week

Suman Nathwani will become the first ever designer to display her sleepwear collection at a sale counter at this year's Lakme India Fashion Week venue to be hosted during April 5-9, 2006.

This will be Nathwani's first appearance at the IFW, even though she has been in this business for past 14 years, and is a member of Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI).

She considers this to be an important opportunity, as she will be offered an international platform to exhibit sleepwear, which is not very popular in India.

Suman says that her recognition will inspire more designers to explore this sector and hopefully, will change Indian consumer's views on sleepwear.

Her autumn-winter 2006-'07 collection, titled 'Bedtime Stories', is based on four moodsl; innocence, wildness, sensuality and romance.

Suman explains that different colours and prints, fabrics and materials represent different moods.

For instance white is innocent, and animal prints and so on, symbolize wildness and boldness.

While flowy and wavy fabrics are sensual, romance is represented by red, florals and laces.

Nathwani's sleepwear collection thus, is a superb blend of materials, colours, prints and emotions.
