The Association of Non-Food Importers of Germany (VFI) has opposed the anti-dumping duties on Chinese and Vietnamese shoe exports to the EU.
VFI said that the EU decision was baseless and limited to protecting the interest of the shoe traders in Eastern and Southern Europe.
Though this act may protect shoemakers unable to compete with China and Vietnam to some extent, it affects the European shoe industries that are capable of giving stiff fight.
The VFI assured that if the protection of footwear is applied, it will harm shoemakers, importers and consumers, and even impair future relations between the EU and China and Vietnam.
