Robust Leathercraft pushes Tandy Leather's Feb sale 13%

Tandy Leather Factory Inc reported that sales for the month of February were $4.6 million, an increase of 13 percent from $4.0 million last year.

Year to date sales are up 12 percent to $9.1 million in the current year from $8.1 million last year.

Retail Leathercraft posted a 30 percent sales increase for February, with sales totaling $1.8 million compared to $1.4 million in February 2005.

The 42 comparable stores posted a 10 percent same store sales gain for the month.

The 11 stores opened in 2005 added February sales of $266,000. Year-to-date sales for Retail Leathercraft are $3.6 million this year, a 32 percent increase over sales of $2.7 million for the same period of 2005.

As of the end of February, the same store sales gain for the 42 comparable stores is 14 percent for the year.

Wholesale Leathercraft posted sales of $2.7 million for February, up 7 percent over February 2005 sales of $2.5 million.

Within the Wholesale Leathercraft division, the wholesale centers' sales gain was 7 percent for the month while the National Account group posted a January sales gain of 8 percent.

For the year to date, Wholesale Leathercraft sales are $5.3 million compared to $5 million in 2005.

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Wray Thompson, commented, "February was their third highest sales month in the history of the company, behind December 2005 and December 2004.

Given that February is a short month for them, they are very pleased.
