Authorities find Nizam's lost slippers
08 Mar '06
1 min read
A pair of royal slippers belonging to the Nizam of Hyderabad in 1790s that had been stolen from the Bata Shoe Museum in Toronto, were recovered.
Magnificent slippers are embedded with diamonds and emeralds and are one of the unique relics of history.
They are worth a ravishing $160000 and were stolen on January 22 2006.
They were recovered in a plastic bag at a Church after an anonymous caller tipped the police.
Two other stolen artifacts, an 18-century gold toe ring worth $11000 and jewel-encrusted anklet worth $45000 were also recovered.
Police studied the shoes for evidence before the bag was opened and arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with the robbery.
