The Fashion Design Council Of India (FDCI) has planned to organize the India Fashion Week from April 5 to April 9 whereas Lakme too plans to sponsor Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) event.
FDCI has put itself into trouble by asking fashion designers to participate in any one of the two fashion shows scheduled for this year forcing Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission to issue a notice for restricting participants from participating.
The Director-General (Investigations) Ajay Nath, in the Ministry of Company Affairs said, a notice of enquiry has been issued to India Fashion Week for indulging in restrictive trade practice as designers were being restrained from participating in the rival's Lakme Fashion Week event.
The Director-General (Investigations) considers the circular issued by FDCI on February 6 to be a serious matter which asked participants not to accept other fashion engagements for at least two weeks prior to IFW event.
An e-mail of December 2 asked FDCI members to participate in event being organised by FDCI only.
