The Keds Corporation, a subsidiary of Stride Rite Corp, announced that the footwear brand has partnered with well-known rock poster artist Eleanor Grosch to design an exclusive limited-edition footwear collection for fall 2006.
Grosch, a graphic designer who has created album posters and concert t-shirts for indie rock bands Death Cab for Cutie and Wilco, is the founder of Pushmepullyou Design, a Philadelphia-based company that caters to clients in the music industry.
"They are so thrilled to be collaborating with Eleanor.
She has brilliantly blended her youthful, iconic designs with the Keds aesthetic and the end result is a very exciting and sophisticated debut collection.
Eleanor's medium of poster art links music, graphics and culture in a powerful way.
Keds recognized a great opportunity to connect to a young, music-savvy consumer with Eleanor's talent for design and her unique perspective into the world of indie rock.
She was a natural choice," says Wendy Yang, Senior Vice President of Product.
Grosch, whose whimsical designs are often inspired by less-than-ordinary animals (her own firm is named after a llama from the children's book Dr Doolittle), collaborated with Keds' design team to create a unique, lighthearted collection for fall.
The multi-colored ballet flats will be available in llama, owl and seahorse patterns.
"The opportunity to put my illustrations on people's feet was appealing from the get-go.
