Manhattan-based clothing manufacturer Global Sourcing and Design Inc. has acquired the Joan Vass fashion brand, which will be produced entirely overseas for the first time.
The designer retained the right to produce her couture line, Joan Vass N.Y.
The Joan Vass brand was manufactured in South Carolina until its licensing contract with manufacturer Heritage expired last year.
Technology and sourcing facilities were not much in States, said Richard Mauro, Vice President of Design, Marketing and Sales for Joan Vass.
Manhattan-based Global Sourcing plans to produce a knitwear line called Joan Vass Signature for the Spring 2007 season.
It is also going ahead with plans to introduce woven products and accessories soon.
Joan Vass is expected to achieve record sales of about $6 million this year.
Mauro said that after expansion the sales is expected to triple that sales figure within two years with expanding into categories such as handbags and producing fashion lines with wider price range.
Department stores such as Neiman Marcus and Dillard Department Stores sell Joan Vass products.
