Local designers feature on day 1 at Fashion Week in Lahore
Apr '13
The sixth PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2013, organized by Pakistan Fashion Design Council (PFDC), opened with a range of prét-a-porter catwalk presentations from Pakistani designers in Lahore.
Photographer turned designer Tapu Javeri kicked off the event with his latest Spring/Summer lines of printed clothes and scarves titled ‘Tapulicious’. Drawing inspiration from the old architecture of Karachi city, the silky ensembles were based in shocking, monochromatic and sepia tones.
Designer Misha Lakhani presented her feminine fun collection ‘Configurations’ on the same day. Infused with prints, colours and fluidity, the range featured dresses, drapery, drop waist outfits and versatile separates in crushed silk, chiffon georgette, crepe, karandi, net, jamavar and shamose satin.
Clothing brand FnkAsia drew inspiration from the lush rainforests, tree plantations and ancient culture of Bengal for its ‘East of Bengal’ line. Designed on the central silhouette of sarees, the ensembles were tweaked and draped in layers to give them a modern garment like feel. The range featured beaded and heavily embellished blouses and bustiers.
Fashion label Sublime by Sara, owned and operated by designer Sara Shahid, featured her latest collection titled ‘NOW, Summer Sublime 2013’ on the first day of the event. Based on bright crisp summer hues, the floral and striped printed ensembles included cropped pants, tailored kurtas and luxuriously draped floor length gowns.
