A range of local models, wearing extraordinary collections, created by home-grown fashion designers were featured at the four-day-long inaugural fashion week event Fashfest, held in Australia’s capital city of Canberra.

Brainchild of local advertising executive Clinton Hutchinson and his wife Andrea, the opening day of the event saw clothing ranges from young labels like Hunter, Lisa.T, Perpetually Five and WND.LND.

The UK-born wedding gown designer Sarah Joseph made her Australian debut at the event. The Tom Ford-trained fashion talent presented a racy collection accentuated with plunging necklines, bold thigh-high splits, laser cutting and intricate hand stitching techniques.

Australian beachwear specialist Baku featured a mix-and-match collection of frocks, skirts and pants smartly teamed up with their latest range of swimwear ensembles.

Clothing label Edition stressed on showcasing various draping and folding methods to create different silhouettes on the featured garments. Based on a palette of red and grey, the silk and chiffon dresses included large pockets and oversized sleeves.
